Saarbrücken’s cityscape preserves outstanding ensembles from the two formative epochs of the Baroque in the 18th century and the industrial age in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Since the post-war reconstruction in the 1950s, this has surrounded the continuous public and private building activity of modern urban development in the respective contemporary style.
